For materials and lights preview, you can quickly go with Eevee and
swap later to Cycles if you decide to use that renderer. Most of the
materials work in either renderer without the need to change a lot of
settings. That is also valid for PBR materials.
6.1.1 Shading modes
The easiest way to start a render is to use your shading modes in the 3D
Viewport. If you look to the right of your header, you see the shading
modes (Figure 6.2).

With the last button on the right, you get a rendered view from your
scene. By using Eevee, you won't notice any slowdowns or performance
